Winter Pruning

A tree’s structure is easy to assess when there are no leaves!

Now is the time to have your trees pruned for safety, health, and structure. Below are the benefits of winter pruning:

  1. We can see them. When a tree is in full leaf it is harder to find decay or structural issues. In winter, our arborist can identify and address hazardous or poorly structured limbs.

  2. Less spread of disease. All fungi, bacteria, or harmful insects are dead or dormant.

  3. Less stress for the trees. Winter pruning allows for efficient wound closure in the spring. Also, it will not stimulate new or compensatory growth. This saves growth energy that could be utilized for root growth or over tree defense.

  4. Savings for the customer. We can prune more efficiently in the winter due to the absence of foliage. This cost savings is passed to YOU!
